Barrel Race

Our sponsors, Ardnamurchan Distillery have been a great support to the Arisaig Highland Games and have brought a new event to our Games. First introduced in 2016, the Barrel Race is now a popular fixture in our event list and is very much a crowd favourite.

The task for competitors is to roll one of the Ardnamurchan Distillery whisky barrels as fast as they can across a short track. Sounds simple, but it can be quite a challenge, especially with another team rolling their barrel beside, or sometimes into, yours.

We invite people to sign up for the event during the afternoon, either as individuals or in pairs. We then run heats with 2 teams racing each time until a winner emerges from the knockout competition.

The winning team will receive a bottle of whisky. Due to the nature of the event and the prize, entrants registering for the race must be over 18 years old.
